According to different sensors type for installation, it can be divided into clamp on, inline ( insertion ) and submersed type ultrasonic flow meters;
For insertion flow meter, paried inline ultrasonic sensors need to insert into piping systems, but for clamp on non contact ultrasonic sensors, the sensors just need to be mounted on the outside of pipe.
According to different transmitters type, it can be divided into wall mounted ultrasonic flow meter, portable ultrasonic flow meter and handheld ultrasonic flow meter.
wall mounted ultrasonic flow meter is usd for permanent installation, portable and handheld ultrasonic flow meters are used for transitory or temporary installation.
According to different ultrasonic working principle, it can be divided into transit time and doppler ultrasonic flow meter.
Transit time ultrasonic flow meter is ideal for clean liquids like water, pure water, irrigation water, alcohol, hot water, etc. But for doppler ultrasonic flow meter is ideal for dirty liquids or liquids with certain air bubbles, such as raw sewage, pulp, ground water, sludge, etc. Doppler flow meter includes full pipe doppler flow meter and area velocity doppler flow meter, area velocity flow meter is ideal for various open channels, full pipes or partially filled pipes, rivers, streams.
According to the number of channels, it can be divided into single channel ultrasonic flow meter, double channels ultrasonic flow meter, multi-channel ultrasonic flow meter and so on.
One channel ultrasonic flow meter : Paired one pair of ultrasonic sensors, accuracy is 1%, static zero.
Dual channels ultrasonic flow meter is paired two pairs of ultrasonic high temperature sensors, accuracy is 0.5%, dynamic zero, color screen.
Multi channels ultrasonic flow meter is paired four pairs of ultrasonic high temperature insertion sensors, accuracy is 0.5%.
According to different pipeline, it can be divided into ultrasonic flow meter and Tube type ultrasonic water meter.
ultrasonic flow meter is ideal for all kinds of clean liquids, not just for water. It can also measure oils, alcohol and others .
But for ultrasonic water meter is only ok to measure water. For large diameter pipes, its cost is much higher than ultrasonic flow meter’s.
Generally, the accuracy for ultrasonic water meter is higher than ultrasonic flowmeter.
