Ultrasonic Flow Meters

20+ Years Manufacturing Experience

What are the reasons for the difference in readings between the ultrasonic/electromagnetic insertion flowmeter or the turbine flow meter?

1) Firstly, For the working principles of the insertion electromagnetic flowmeter or the insertion turbine flowmeter. Both belong to the point velocity measurement principle, while the ultrasonic flowmeter belongs to the linear velocity measurement principle, and after the velocity distribution correction, it is basically equivalent to the surface velocity measurement, and the accuracy is higher than the above flowmeter.

2) Other insertion type flow instruments (referring to insertion turbine flowmeter, electromagnetic flowmeter, DP flow meter, vortex flowmeter , etc.) all need to correct and compensate the velocity distribution coefficient A, blocking coefficient and interference coefficient. Ask the user whether they have corrected and compensated when using other plug in instruments, otherwise certain errors will occur.  And the insertion ultrasonic flowmeter basically does not exist the above factors

3) Other insertion meters take the point velocity as the reference to obtain the surface velocity of the whole pipeline, so they have very strict requirements on the velocity distribution of the fluid in the pipeline. If the lack of straight pipe segments leads to the non-axisy-symmetric flow of the fluid in the pipeline, certain errors will occur in the measurement or large errors will occur due to flow distortion.

4) Understand the actual pipeline direction on site, including whether there are branch pipes and whether there are sufficient straight pipe segments in the installation position;

5) Understand the service life and actual pipe outer diameter, actual wall thickness, material and whether there is lining and scaling inside the pipe, etc.
