The difference and key points of selection between inserted ultrasonic flowmeter and inline ultrasonic flowmeter

1. Introduction

Ultrasonic flowmeter is a kind of instrument that uses ultrasonic wave to measure fluid flow. It has the advantages of non-contact measurement, high precision, wide measuring range, and can be applied to a variety of fluids, so it is widely used in petrochemical, water treatment, food and beverage, medicine and other industries. This article will introduce the difference between the plug-in ultrasonic flowmeter and the tube segment ultrasonic flowmeter, as well as the selection points, to help users choose the right ultrasonic flowmeter according to the actual needs.

2. insertion ultrasonic flowmeter

Working principle

The insertion type ultrasonic flowmeter calculates the flow rate by inserting a probe into the pipe and using the difference in the speed at which the ultrasonic wave travels through the fluid. When the ultrasonic wave propagates from the probe to the fluid, the propagation speed in the forward direction will be faster than the propagation speed in the reverse direction, and by measuring the two speed differences, the flow rate of the fluid can be calculated.

peculiarity

(1) Easy installation: no need to cut off the pipe, just drill a hole in the pipe and insert the probe.

(2) Suitable for large diameter pipelines: due to the small probe size of the plug-in ultrasonic flowmeter, it is suitable for the flow measurement of large diameter pipelines.

(3) Easy maintenance: The probe is easy to disassemble and replace for regular maintenance and cleaning.

3. inline ultrasonic flowmeter

Working principle

Pipe segment ultrasonic flowmeter is to measure the flow rate by installing a pipe segment with a specific structure in the pipe and using the characteristics of ultrasonic wave propagation in the pipe segment. When the fluid passes through the pipe, the speed and pressure of the fluid will affect the propagation speed and amplitude of the ultrasonic wave. By measuring these parameters, the flow rate of the fluid can be calculated.

peculiarity

(1) High precision: Due to the specific structure of the pipe segment ultrasonic flowmeter, higher measurement accuracy can be obtained.

(2) Wide measuring range: tubular ultrasonic flowmeters can adapt to different fluid speeds and pressure ranges, with a wide measuring range.

(3) Good long-term stability: Because the tubular structure is stable, it has good long-term stability and is suitable for long-term continuous measurement.

4. Key points of selection

When choosing a plug-in ultrasonic flowmeter or tubular ultrasonic flow meter, the following points need to be considered:

Measurement accuracy: Select the appropriate measurement accuracy according to the actual needs. If you need high precision measurement, you can choose the tube segment ultrasonic flowmeter; If the accuracy requirements are not high, you can choose the plug-in ultrasonic flowmeter.

Installation mode: Consider the actual situation and installation conditions of the pipeline, select the appropriate installation mode. If the pipe diameter is large or the installation space is limited, you can choose the plug-in ultrasonic flowmeter; If the pipe diameter is small or needs long-term continuous measurement, you can choose the pipe segment ultrasonic flowmeter.

Maintenance requirements: Consider the convenience of maintenance and cleaning. If you need regular maintenance and cleaning, you can choose the plug-in ultrasonic flowmeter; If the maintenance requirements are not high, you can choose the pipe segment ultrasonic flowmeter.

Fluid properties and temperature and pressure range: Consider the properties of the fluid (such as corrosion, viscosity, etc.) and the temperature and pressure range. Select the suitable material and structure of the ultrasonic flowmeter to ensure the accuracy and stability of the measurement.

Economy: under the premise of meeting the measurement requirements, the economy of the equipment is considered. The plug-in ultrasonic flowmeter is usually cheaper, and the pipe segment ultrasonic flowmeter is more expensive. Choose according to your budget and actual needs.

The insertion ultrasonic flowmeter and the tube segment ultrasonic flowmeter have their own characteristics and should be selected according to the actual needs. In the selection need to consider the measurement accuracy, installation, maintenance requirements, fluid properties and temperature and pressure range, as well as economic factors. Choosing the right ultrasonic flowmeter can improve production efficiency, reduce costs and ensure product quality.
