Clamp-on ultrasonic heat meter is an instrument used to measure heat. It is mainly based on the principle of time difference in the propagation of ultrasonic waves in the fluid. In a heat exchange system, there is hot water (or other heat-carrying fluid) flowing through the pipe. The ultrasonic transducer is installed outside the pipe (this is the meaning of “outer clamp”), one transducer transmits the ultrasonic signal, and the other transducer receives the signal.
Depending on the direction of the fluid flow, the time of upstream and upstream propagation of the ultrasonic wave will be different. By measuring this time difference, combined with the internal diameter of the pipe, the speed of ultrasonic propagation in the fluid and other parameters, the flow rate of the fluid can be calculated. Then according to the flow rate of the fluid, temperature difference (the difference between the inlet temperature and the outlet temperature of the hot fluid) and the specific heat capacity of the fluid and other parameters, the heat calculation formula is used (where is the heat, is the mass flow rate, is the specific heat capacity, is the temperature difference) to calculate the heat.
advantage
Easy installation: Because it is an external clamp installation, there is no need to cut off the pipeline, and it will not cause damage to the pipeline when the existing pipeline system is modified for heat measurement. For example, in some old central heating systems, if you want to add a heat metering device, an external ultrasonic heat meter can be easily installed on the heating pipe.
High accuracy: under the right working conditions, the ultrasonic propagation time difference can be accurately measured, and then the flow rate and heat of the fluid can be accurately calculated. Its measurement accuracy can meet the requirements of most industrial and civil heat measurement.
Low maintenance costs: no parts in direct contact with the fluid, reducing instrument damage caused by fluid corrosion, scaling and other problems. And if the external clamp transducer and other parts fail, it is relatively simple to replace, and there is no need for complex pipeline disassembly and other operations.
shortcoming
High requirements for the pipeline: the material and surface condition of the pipeline will affect the propagation of ultrasonic waves. For example, if the pipe wall is too thick or the pipe surface is uneven and there are a lot of rust, it will lead to serious attenuation of the ultrasonic signal and affect the measurement accuracy.
Calibration is complex: its measurement accuracy is affected by many factors, such as the nature of the fluid (density, viscosity, etc.), the dimensional accuracy of the pipe, etc. Therefore, there are more factors to consider in calibration work, and the calibration process is relatively complex, requiring professional equipment and technical personnel.
Application scenario
Central heating system: in the heat client of urban central heating, it is used to measure the heat consumption of each household in order to carry out reasonable settlement of heating costs. By installing the external clip ultrasonic heat meter, the actual heat of each user can be accurately measured, and the energy saving and emission reduction of the heating system can be promoted.
Industrial heat exchange process: In chemical, pharmaceutical and other industrial fields, there are a large number of heat exchange processes. External clamped ultrasonic heat meters can be used to monitor the heat transfer of heat exchange equipment to help optimize the production process and improve energy efficiency. For example, in the heat exchange loop of the chemical reactor, it can monitor the heat input and output in real time to provide data support for the control of the reaction process.
